Can sweets be carried in hand luggage? Questions on the topic: You can take sweets in your hand luggage. What you can take with you on the plane in hand luggage

05.12.2020

We are often asked what can be carried inplane in hand luggage... For instance, can i take on boardsausage? Or chocolate candies or let's say cake (packing it into luggage, you know, is rather pointless).

After reviewing the relevant rules and restrictions in force both at the level of the European Union, the United States and other countries, and at individual airports, "Taste of Plantain" compiled a generalized guide items that are allowed or prohibited to carry in the handput.

But keep in mind that all the rules state that the final decision on whether to allow you to carry this or that thing on the plane is made by a security officer during control.

That is, the option is not excluded when, according to all the rules, it is supposedly possible to take this or that thing on the plane, but the employee under control “got up on the wrong foot” and decides otherwise.
However, knowing your rights, you can at least argue with him. (Although we do not recommend it - the airport employees themselves assure that the more the passenger "runs into" a conflict, the more likely it is that something else "suspicious" will be taken away from him).

Hand luggage
- any baggage of a passenger, other than checked in and checked into the baggage hold, which is carried in the passenger cabin of the aircraft under the supervision of the passenger himself and under his responsibility.

Once on the plane, you must place your carry-on baggage in the overhead bin or under the passenger seat in front of you.

Before traveling, carefully read the rules of carriage and dimensions of carry-on baggage that is allowed to be carried by the airline you fly.

Liquids and similar substances

Experienced travelers remember well those recent times when it was possible to carry at least a five-liter bottle of water on a plane without any problems, although a six-month set of creams and shampoos.
Everything has changed after august2006 yearwhen a group of malefactors preparing large-scale terrorist attacks at London Heathrow airport was detained in the UK.
According to British intelligence, the terrorists planned to blow up more than ten planes, carrying liquid explosives on board in their carry-on luggage.

Since then, aviation rules for transporting liquids in hand luggage have changed not only within the European Union, but throughout the world.

So, according to the current rules, take any liquid into the aircraft cabin * can only in containers of no more than 100 ml (about 3.5 oz, that is, a fluid ounce).

Moreover, all containers with liquid, the total volume of which cannot exceed 1l, must be packed in a separate transparent bag with a fastener no larger than 20 x 20 cm (8 x 8 inches).

One person can carry no more than one such package.

When going through security control at the airport the liquid bag must be removed from the bag (backpack, briefcase, etc.) and put separately in a container to pass through an X-ray machine.

Examples of the correct packaging of liquids for transportation in carry-on baggage:

*Attention!
These rules do not apply baby food if you are flying with an infant under 2 years of age, or medicines needed by the patient during the flight.
That is, a bottle with milk or other baby food can be larger than 100 ml, and it does not need to be put in a separate transparent bag. But be prepared to be asked to taste its contents.

If we are talking about liquid medicines with a volume of more than 100 ml, the control has the right to require a doctor's certificate, proving the need for appropriate medicines for the passenger during the flight.

Liquid medicines and ointments up to 100 ml are subject to the clear bag rule.

Others medicines (tablets, capsules, powders, inhalers, etc.) can be carried on the plane without restrictions in the amount allowed by customs.

Liquids include:

water and any other drinks
perfume and toilet water
tonics and lotions
any gels (including hair gels, shaving gels, shower gels, hand sanitizers, etc.)
liquid soap
creams and oils for body and face (except dry massage tiles)
shampoo and hair conditioner (except dry and hard)
nail polish and nail polish remover
Toothpaste
lip gloss
Mascara
liquid eyeliner and liquid eye shadow
foundation (except for pressed in the form of compact powder)
roll-on deodorants
any aerosols, including shaving foam and confectionery cream in a spray can
glue
syrups, jams, preserves
honey
yoghurts, puddings, jellies
soups (except dry concentrate)
sauces
butter, butter, spreads
food pastes and pates (in particular peanut butter, Nutella-type chocolate creams, meat and fish pates in cans and cans)
all other substances of similar consistency **
mixtures of liquid substances with solid ***

** Substances that are subject to confiscation as "liquids" usually also include soft cheeses - type brie, camembert, feta etc. (This rule does not apply to hard cheeses).
Therefore, if you check in your luggage, put soft cheeses there. But first carefully read the rules for the carriage of goods across the border of the country to which you are traveling - it is generally prohibited to import dairy products into many countries.

*** Formally, a mixture of liquid substances with solids, in which the amount of liquid is less than 100 ml - eg, fishcanned food, - it is allowed to carry in hand luggage.
However, in this case, a lot depends on the mood of the security control officer who checks you. Journalists of "Taste Plantain" personally witnessed how at the airport "Kiev / Zhulyany" "controllers" forced Swedish tourists throw away the 140 gram can of redcaviar.
The officer really has the right to "suspect" explosives in a closed tin. And, as experience shows, when it comes to expensive caviar, the likelihood of such "suspicion", at least in our airports, muchhigherthan if you are carrying tomato-wrapped sprat or even a truly "forbidden" sprat pate.

What do they do with things confiscated at the airport?

Passengers, deprived of expensive caviar or a bottle of their favorite perfume, are convinced: all this is the malicious intent of the "security", which then "rip off" the items taken from passengers among themselves.

But at the airports they claim that security personnel are strictly prohibited from taking anything from the confiscatedof things... And so that they do not have such a temptation, all actions of the staff are closely monitored by video cameras.

Where then do heaps of bottles with cosmetics, alcoholic beverages, canned food, knives, nail scissors and other "confiscated goods" go?
Most of them are disposed of, that is, destroyed.

Earlier, for example, at airports in the UK, confiscated items were donated to charity. But then, at least for liquids, this practice was abandoned. After all, no one can guarantee that there really is shampoo left in the bottle with the inscription “shampoo” (suddenly the passenger poured dishwashing detergent into it), and in the bottle of Dior perfume there is not nail polish remover.

Expensive things can be put up for auction - also for charitable purposes.

Plantain Taste Tips:
Anything that you have doubts about, whether it can be considered liquid, is best packed in a bag or suitcase that you check in as luggage.
If you are flying only with hand luggage, be prepared for the “questionable” item to be taken away.

If you drink water, coffee or tea at the airport - either finish drinking it before you start to go through the control, or throw it away, because you will not be allowed through the frame with a drink anyway.

A convenient option for traveling with hand luggage only - shampoo and hair conditioner, shower gel and other cosmetics in disposable sachets of 5-20ml... You don't even need to put them in a transparent bag like other liquids.

Attention!
Liquids purchased after passing aviation security control, allowed to take onboard.
But if water or carbonated drinks bought in a duty-free store can be consumed immediately, the alcohol must be hermetically packed in a special transparent bag, which cannot be disclosed until leaving the airportdestination.
But be careful: if you fly withtransplant, be sure to read the rules in force at the transit airport. In some of them - for example, if you leave the Schengen area while changing flights - when you go through a new security check even packaged goods from duty-free can be taken away from you previous airport.

Food

You are allowed to carry on board the aircraft any food that cannot be considered liquid (see previous paragraph on liquids).

However, if you do not plan to consume these foods during the flight, read the customs regulations carefully import of goods into the country of destination.

Let's say to the EU states from outside of it it is forbidden to import meat and dairyproducts.
In addition, certain vegetables cannot be imported to the UK, and any plant products (fruits, vegetables, cereals, etc.) in general to Australia. And in this case, it doesn't matter if you are carrying these products in your carry-on baggage or checked baggage.

However, if in Australia, isolated from the rest of the world, this rule is followed very rigidly and they force you to throw out any discovered products so that no infection can enter the island-continent with them, then in the EU everything is usually not so serious.
Of course, it is better not to carry a loaf of cooked sausage in hand luggage, but 100-gram meat or cheese cuts in vacuumpackagingmost likely, no one will notice - unless you arouse suspicion and be forced to go through customs.

You can carry in hand luggage in the aircraft cabin:

fruits and vegetables (usually no more than 2 kg per person)
eggs
meat and fish products (except pates and canned food containing more than 100 ml of liquid)
seafood (not frozen and hermetically sealed)
hard cheeses
cereals and flour
dry spices
powdered milk
any candy and chocolate
cakes and other pastries
biscuit
sandwiches, hot dogs, sandwiches
nuts
chips, seeds, crackers, etc.

The Italian, who decided to smuggle almost 150,000 undeclared euros from Colombia to Milan airport in an original way, knew that Nutella could not be carried in hand luggage. Therefore, I checked it in as luggage, but the customs officers also considered smuggling there.

Electrical devices

You can carry in the cabin
mobile phones and tablets
eBooks
laptops / notebooks ****
photo and video cameras
portable music and video players
hair dryers, curling irons and hair straighteners
portable ("travel") irons
electric shavers

**** In case the size of the laptop exceeds authorized by your carrier sizes manualluggage, before traveling, consult with the airline about the rules for transporting such equipment.
You may have to pay extra for oversized sizes or use a postage service.

Hello everyone, my dears. You can't even imagine how many questions they ask me about what food can be taken in hand luggage and what not. It seems, wake me up at night, I can answer any question from this area. Therefore, today I decided to write an article in which I will tell you EVERYTHING I know about food on the plane.

I understand that, most likely, each of you only cares about how to transport a certain product (sausage or meat). But I beg you, read this article attentivelyto understand general logic of banning products.

If you figure it out once, all questions in the future will disappear by themselves. And you will never again have to puzzle over such questions or say goodbye to your products at customs control. So, I hope you read this article to the end, and I start.

In this article:

Why are products seized?

There are three reasons why you can lose your treats.

1. They do not pass customs control

Each country has its own rules on what products can be imported / exported, in what quantities, and what not. These rules are set to prevent the spread of infections (bird flu, for example) or for other reasons.

That is why meat and dairy products cannot be imported into the EU countries. Because of this, the export of caviar from Russia for personal consumption is limited.

Therefore, if you are flying across the border, you simply have to inquire about the customs regulations of the country you are leaving and the rules of the country you are arriving in.

If you do not cross the border, that is, you are flying within the country, customs regulations do not threaten you, you can go directly to the next item.

And I will briefly talk about some of the most famous prohibitions.

1. export of caviar from Russia:

  • sturgeon caviar (black caviar) no more than 250 gr.
  • salmon caviar (red caviar) no more than 5 kg

2. import of finished products of animal origin that do not require finished heat treatment (cheese, sausage, fish) to Russia - no more than 5 kg

3. import of alcohol to Russia:

  • no more than 3 liters of alcoholic beverages (including beer).

Customs regulations, which clearly indicate which products can be imported / exported and in what quantity, are a voluminous document. And to cover them all quickly and in one article is simply unrealistic.

In addition, customs regulations are constantly changing and becoming stricter. You can read which is extremely relevant at the present time. And I turn to the next constraint, which will answer many of your questions.

2. Products violate airline rules

In addition to customs regulations, each traveler is subject to the laws of the air carrier with which he flies. You understand that an airplane is not a car that can be parked on the side of the road, and in which you can open a window to ventilate the cabin.

The airline is concerned that you do not create dangerous conditions for the flight with your items (including products).

That is why there are a bunch of rules that seem silly to many passengers, but in reality are aimed at the safety of the flight. Let's take a look at each of these rules.

1 - rules for transporting liquids.

Airline fluids include not only water, but also:

  • any drinks,
  • jelly,
  • jam,
  • caviar,
  • pate,
  • yogurt,
  • sauce,
  • cottage cheese,
  • oil,
  • soft cheese,
  • canned food.

All this can be carried either in baggage without any special restrictions on volume (remember the customs rules). And if you want to carry these products in your carry-on baggage, you must pack them properly.

That is, each product should be in a package with a volume of no more than 100 ml (do not confuse with grams), there should be no more than 10 packages, and all of them should be in one transparent bag with a zipper.

For example, you want to bring honey to your family and bring it in your hand luggage. Then it should be in a jar of no more than 100 ml and lie in a transparent bag along with your cosmetics, since most cosmetics (toothpaste, cream, mascara) also have a liquid consistency and belong to liquids.

2 - the volume of containers.

Imagine that you bought a can of good coffee abroad, but it is taken from you at customs, and you cannot understand what is the matter. In fact, the volume of your jar turned out to be more than 100 ml, so it is withdrawn.

What to do? Do not buy coffee in cans, only in bags or pack cans in luggage.

But there is such a feature that they do not pay attention to iron cans with cookies or tea (it was so with us). What is the difference, I do not understand. But the fact remains.

3 - factory packaging.

All products that may cause issues (liquid or animal) must be in their original packaging. Think for yourself which air carrier would like to let you on a plane if you are carrying several bottles of liquid of unknown origin in your luggage. Even if it is homemade wine, which was prepared by your own grandmother, it will be very difficult for security personnel to prove it.

It's the same with meat at customs. Who will allow you to bring into the country a piece of meat of unknown origin? All of these products must be in their original packaging.

4 - meeting the permissible dimensions

Each airline sets its own limits for and. Your products must fit these rules.

That is, if it is allowed to carry one bag of a certain size in carry-on luggage, then all products must fit into it. This applies to those who are going to carry, for example, fruit in hand luggage. And I'm going to the third limitation ...

3. Foods disturb other passengers

I decided to highlight this limitation so that you pay special attention to it. The food you are carrying should not disturb other passengers with strong and unpleasant odors in the first place.

Smoked fish, sausage or eggs can produce these odors. Therefore, take special care to properly package your products. No need to invent anything special, just wrap them in plastic wrap, several bags.

Put the fruit in a box to avoid crushing it along the way. Don't forget to leave the durians outside the plane if you don't want the whole plane to hate you ;-).

Take food on the road

Yes, you can take food for a snack on the road.

  • biscuit,
  • candy,
  • chocolate,
  • fruit
  • and even sandwiches (no products with a pungent smell)

all this can be taken with you on the plane.

In addition, if you are flying with a child, remember that you can take the required amount of water and liquid food for him, regardless of all of the above troubles.

How to understand if your product can be transported

So, you have become familiar with the basic rules for transporting food. If you have read everything written above, I bow to you. Let me write a small algorithm that will help you determine whether your particular product can be transported or not.

1. Determine whether you are flying abroad or within the country.

2. If you are flying domestically, you are not interested in customs regulations, you only need to think about the rules of the air carrier.

3. If you are flying abroad, find out the rules of the customs of the Russian Federation (you can use hotline) and the customs rules of the country you are flying to (google). Then think about the carrier's rules.

4 ... Check that your product is in the original packaging.

5. If your product is liquid and its container volume is less than 100 ml, you can carry it in hand luggage on the plane according to the rules for carrying liquid.

6. If your product is liquid and its container volume is more than 100 ml, then you need to check it in.

7. If your product is not liquid, but its container is more than 100 ml, then also check it in.

8. If the product is large and does not fit into the allowable dimensions of hand luggage, it is also included in the luggage.

These are the tips, my dears. I hope that my article helped you at least a little understand the rules for transporting food. Be sure to read the article about, this will remove all the basic questions in this topic. And I have everything for today, thanks for your attention and bye!

Guide: baggage and carry-on baggage allowances 10 popular airlines

Air carriers, in particular, low-cost airlines, now and then tighten the requirements for hand luggage and luggage, forcing passengers to pay more. So that you do not get lost in the stream of constant updates of the rules, we have collected in one material the rules of ten popular airlines, the knowledge of which will save you tens, or even hundreds of euros.

Important nuances

  1. Check the rules of all airlines you will be using while traveling and make sure that your carry-on and baggage comply with the more stringent ones.
  2. Please note that you can buy tickets from, and fly from. This happens when a code-sharing agreement is signed between companies. In this case, the rules of the airline whose code is indicated on the ticket apply. It’s useless to prove at the airport that you didn’t know - you have to pay for the excess or additional baggage.
  3. Many airlines check the dimensions of carry-on baggage using special devices at the airport. Everything that does not fit into the frame will have to be checked in (especially zealous ones take into account even the handles that look out half a centimeter). We recommend that you check your carry-on baggage in advance - at the check-in counter the luggage is cheaper than at the gate, it is even better to foresee this situation even during the online purchase of air tickets.
  4. Important!Low-cost airlines do not have connecting flights. Each segment of the route is a separate flight, so each time you need to collect your baggage and check it in again, therefore, you also need to pay extra for it on each segment.

Liquids in carry-on baggage. Is it possible or not?

In total, it is allowed to carry 1 liter of liquids with a maximum of 100 milliliters each. The volume of the container matters: a two-liter bottle, in which two sips of juice are left, will not be missed. All liquids must be placed in a transparent ziplock bag (such as a fruit freezer zip bag or cosmetic bag) and presented for security screening if requested.

Liquids include:

  • roll-on deodorants;
  • shaving foam, shampoo, shower gel;
  • toothpaste;
  • perfume and toilet water;
  • tonic, makeup remover, cream, mascara;
  • alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks;
  • medicines: eye, nasal and ear drops, solutions and tinctures for oral administration, means for external use, gels;
  • some food products: soft cheese, yogurt, pate, jam, honey, etc.
  • Travelers with children under two years of age. Baby food (puree, milk, juices, mixture, etc.) can be in packages of any size in the amount required for the flight.
  • Those who need to take medication regularly. In this case, you can take drugs in packages with a volume of more than 100 milliliters, but do not forget to grab a certificate from your doctor.

But what about shopping from duty free?

Perfumes, eau de toilette, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from duty free shops can be taken on board if they are packed with a receipt and sealed (do not try to consume whiskey from your throat on the plane).

Difficulties can arise if you are flying with a transfer. So, in the EU, it is prohibited to import liquids in containers, the volume of which exceeds 100 milliliters, if they are purchased outside the EU. That is, if you fly from Kharkov to Prague via Warsaw, a bottle of wine from Ukrainian duty free will most likely be confiscated at the transfer point. For those traveling within the EU, it is enough not to print the package and have a receipt with you confirming that the purchase was made no more than a day ago. The last word in any case remains with the airport employee.

Can I carry food in my carry-on baggage?

Yes, but if they are liquid, you will need to pack them in 100 milliliters and pack in accordance with the rules. You can safely take on board cookies, chocolate, apples, nuts or sandwiches, but make sure that your food does not emit strong odors.

Can i take electronic devices on the plane?

Need! You saw how suitcases are handled at airports, right?

It is allowed to carry in hand luggage:

  • laptops;
  • mobile phones;
  • tablets and e-books;
  • e-cigarettes;
  • cameras;
  • hair dryers, curling irons, hair straighteners;
  • electric shavers;
  • electric toothbrushes;
  • power banks.

What is prohibited in carry-on baggage?

In short, everything that is potentially dangerous to passengers and crew members due to its toxicity or can be used for attack.

  • liquids in containers with a volume of more than 100 milliliters (except for those purchased in duty-free and properly packed);
  • aerosols (hairspray, deodorant, mosquito repellent, etc.);
  • piercing and cutting objects: screwdrivers, drills, nails, corkscrews, sewing needles, blades, all kinds of knives, scissors, nail files, tweezers with sharp ends, knitting needles, etc. There are exceptions: sometimes it is allowed to carry a knife with a blade shorter than 6 centimeters or tweezers with rounded edges; if you have a doctor's certificate, you can take syringes for injections with you. But you need to be prepared for the worst case scenario: if the item is dear to you, check it in your luggage or leave it at home.
  • firearms and any imitations of them (lighters, children's toys);
  • scotch tape, electrical tape;
  • explosive and flammable substances: gunpowder, firecrackers, fireworks, liquid for refueling lighters, etc .;
  • mercury thermometers (in some countries this restriction does not apply, but it is better to buy an electronic one and not worry);
  • skates, ski and trekking poles;
  • stun guns;
  • caustic and toxic substances: acids, alkalis, poisons;
  • bats, clubs, clubs, nunchucks, oars, skateboards, fishing rods;
  • gas and petrol lighters.

Can i take animals on board?

Each airline has its own rules, so it is best to ask them in advance. For example, UIA allows the carriage of only dogs and cats weighing up to 8 kilograms in the cabin together with a container. Larger animals are transported in the hold. Service animals (for example, guide dogs) fly free of charge, for other pets you will have to pay at a special rate. The owner must have with him a medical certificate, documents confirming vaccination and an export permit.

How do I transport musical instruments and sports equipment?

Sports equipment is usually carried in checked baggage or as oversized cargo, at a special rate (when it comes to skiing or snowboarding, for example). They won't even be allowed to take a skateboard or tennis rackets on board, as in theory they can be used as a weapon.

Small musical instruments that do not exceed the permissible dimensions of carry-on luggage (flute, violin) are allowed by some airlines to be taken into the cabin. Everything else will have to be checked in.

How to properly pack your carry-on baggage and what to do in case of overweight?

  • Place the items that will most likely have to be taken out at security control (laptop and other powerful equipment, a bag of liquids) on top so that you can quickly remove it later. The neighbors and airport staff will be grateful to you.
  • Liquids must be packaged in containers of a maximum of 100 milliliters, remember? If what you want to take with you is not sold in mini-packs, pour it over - the bubbles do not have to be "native".
  • If you are carrying medicines with you, it is better that they are in their original packaging with instructions inside. If you have sleeping pills, strong pain relievers, psychotropic and injectables, be sure to bring your doctor's prescription with you.
  • Put everything of value in your hand luggage: documents, money, jewelry, equipment. And don't forget to keep an eye on your backpack at the airport, of course.
  • You should always take a power bank, warm clothes, medicines that you constantly take and a light snack in case of a flight delay.
  • Make sure not to accidentally drop anything from the prohibited items list. The author of these lines, for example, once threw an adhesive tape into her backpack, and then blushed and made excuses in front of the vigilant employees of the Kutaisi airport.
  • If you are flying a low-cost airline, do not fill your backpack to the limit. Leaving an empty space inside, you can tamp it a little and fit it into a frame with which you check the dimensions.
  • Weigh your pack or suitcase at home and make sure it meets airline regulations. If the overweight was found already at the airport, you can put on something from clothes packed in hand luggage, put heavy small items in your pockets or pick up a camera, e-book, etc., if the carrier allows it.

It is clear that it is convenient for passengers to take as many things as possible in their hand luggage that will be useful on the road. However, not everything that you want to take on the road is allowed to be carried on board. Almost everyone will need not only a phone, but also a laptop, documents and other handy items. But since there are a lot of people in the aircraft cabin, the place must be used compactly. Therefore, airlines set strict rules about how much weight and size luggage can have. And during the check before landing, the check takes place according to certain rules, breaking which it is just right not to get on the plane at all. There are things that are strictly prohibited. But, despite the strict requirements, it is allowed to take more things with you to the salon than it might seem at first glance.

What is considered as carry-on baggage during inspection

Carry-on baggage is a passenger's belongings that are related to the category of personal, and they are allowed to be carried into the cabin, and not checked into general baggage. Of course, companies cannot allow passengers to take on board everything that is convenient for them during the flight, so there are clear dimensions and weight of permissible items for carriage. The types of transported things have been established.

How many bags are allowed to take with you

Most often, one small bag is designed for one place. This definitely applies to economy class tickets. In business class, the rules regarding volumes are not so strict, and two or more bags will be allowed per person.

But the weight of the luggage can vary greatly depending not only on the ticket class, but also on the airline itself. It is known that the weight is allowed 3-15 kg. Therefore, you need to prepare for this moment in advance, that is, specifically find out with your carrier.

The definition of one place also differs. For example, if you are flying low-cost, then outerwear packed in a cover is another additional place. But in the first grade, they will not count as another place. Note that the more expensive the ticket, the less restrictions on the size of hand luggage. This is understandable, because additional baggage must be paid for, so companies will not refuse to lose this money.

General rules are the following:

Items packed in one small bag and not oversized are counted as one piece of hand luggage;
if it is in one unit, then baby carriages, carriers, cradles and crutches are transported free of charge;
handbags and travel umbrellas do not count as hand luggage;
clothes packed in a cover during the flight, which a person will need when leaving the plane, even if they have not been worn by the person during the entire flight, does not count as a seat;
magazines, newspapers and other printed materials go as carry-on baggage, if the permissible weight is not exceeded;
if you take a bottle of water with you, the volume of which does not exceed a liter, then it will be hand luggage, which complements the total weight;
for a separate place, goods purchased in duty-free are not taken into account, but they must be packed in a separate package, provided that they do not exceed the permissible weight and dimensions.

Often, baggage rules are written on tickets or issued to the passenger as a separate booklet. If not, then be sure to find out this information on the company's website. In addition, there are counters at airports where all the baggage rules are written, so even before customs, you can check the compliance of your belongings with the permitted standards. If the carry-on baggage exceeds the weight, then it is better to put the extra things into a suitcase, which will go into the baggage. Pay special attention when you are flying on a short business trip and you only have carry-on luggage with you, because you can't put unnecessary things anywhere. They can be left in storage at the airport or the excess can be paid.

So, the basic requirements for transported things:

Average dimensions are 20 × 40 × 55 cm, or when adding up the width, height and length, the maximum can be 1 m 15 cm, such a small bag will fit in the compartment for travel backpacks above the passengers' heads or under the seat; note that low-cost airlines reduce the size of the bag even more;
the weight is allowed from 5 to 10 kg, again if the ticket is expensive, then the weight will be more, if it is a low-cost airline, then the restrictions will be stricter.

Now let's move on to the hand luggage itself. What is considered carry-on baggage and what can I put in it?

What exactly will be allowed to take on board:

1. Documents. It is better to keep them with you in general, and not to check them in general luggage.
2. Digital technology. This includes a mobile phone (you need to turn it off in the cabin), headphones, gadgets, a laptop.
3. Medicines. It is better to take a doctor's certificate and a prescription just in case. Liquid medicines should be in containers with a maximum volume of 100 ml. If the medication on the way needs to take more of this volume, then the help will come in handy for this.
4. Food that does not have a strong odor and does not cause gassing. If it has a liquid consistency, then it is poured into jars, the volume of which does not exceed 100 ml. The total volume of all liquids is allowed 1 liter.
5. Baby food. When a baby under the age of two flies with you, then it is allowed for him to take baby food in liquid form, with a volume of more than 1 liter.
6. Jewelry and ornaments.
7. Personal hygiene items. You can also take a razor and an electric shaver here. Shampoos, gels, toothpaste, creams should be in containers of no more than 100 ml.
8. Goods purchased in "duty-free" in packaging.

Now let's talk about what kind of food you can carry on the plane.

Most often, this question arises when a ticket is purchased for an economy class or on a promotional offer for a lower price, since in this case the passenger can purchase food for a fee. But if you are allergic, then the situation is more complicated. In this case, it is better for the passenger to take something with him for a snack. Take fruits, vegetables, cookies, bread, cheese, and the like. Cut bread and fruit at home in advance, as it is extremely inconvenient to do this on the plane.

Can I bring sweets in my carry-on baggage?

Sweets and chocolates are allowed, but they must be packed in their original packaging, where the markings and identification data are clearly visible. Customs do not pay attention to the stuffing. Therefore, taking candy with liquor, no one will take them away from you. But keep in mind that with such sweets you are unlikely to go through customs quickly. Therefore, it is better to take regular candy with you. There are no rules regarding the weight of the candy, but check with your carrier for this information as they may dictate restrictions on different types of products.

Sweets can satisfy your hunger or cheer up during the flight, so you can always put such sweets in your hand luggage.

In order not to get into a mess, before flying to another country, you should familiarize yourself with the restrictions on food in different countries.

In the EU countries there is a restriction on the import of dairy and meat products. After all, they quickly deteriorate, and pathogenic bacteria rapidly multiply in them, and these processes can cause infections. An exception will be ready-to-use milk formulas for infants. Fish can be transported.

The United States of America will not allow a passenger who has liqueur-containing sweets, home preserves, some vegetables and fruits, black caviar weighing more than 125 g and fish in their luggage. In addition, they will not be allowed to bring in meat and dairy products (smoked meat is also prohibited). Allowed to carry seasonings, canned food, sweets, cookies, chocolate, olive oil, dried fruits, hard cheese, tea and coffee in packaging, nuts, pasta

Durian will not be allowed to take out from Thailand, as it has a specific smell. Other exotic fruits are allowed to be exported. Note that the fruit can only be bought from duty free to be carried on the plane. Meat for import is prohibited.

In the UK, a passenger carrying animal and plant products that are listed in the Red Book, or only with permission to import these products, will not be allowed.

It will not be possible to bring some fruits, meat and meat products in any form to Israel. But you can import alcohol.

Everything is very strict in China. If some of the prohibitions are violated there, then the punishment will be the death penalty. In this regard, take the issue of importing food as seriously as possible. Some vegetables and fruits, products of plant and animal origin are banned for import. Food from countries where the epidemic is violated is strictly prohibited.

What things do airplane pilots know while everyone else doesn't?

Tonya Samsonova 13

One of these facts is that very often one or more corpses fly along with living passengers on the plane. In every modern passenger liner, a certain amount of cargo or mail is usually carried in the hold. Very often these are the real corpses of people, for their designation in the course of radio exchange in international practice, the conventional code HR (human remains) is adopted. When people die away from home, they need to be brought back somehow. Well, the PIC, of \u200b\u200bcourse, is always aware of what kind of cargo he has on board.

Another fact well-known to pilots is that modern airliners often endure lightning strikes without any problems. An airplane flying at high speeds through a mass of air experiences a high frictional force and, accordingly, gains a static charge. In thunderstorm conditions, lightning strikes regularly for this reason. This does not cause significant harm. all wiring and all electronics on board are reliably shielded.

Can I take a box of chocolates in my hand luggage on board?

Flight across Russia. I wonder if they will take away a box of chocolates for a child for the New Year.

Pavel4242 1

Carry-on baggage rules do not differ much between airlines. I have flown many times both in Russia and abroad. It is precisely impossible to take in the aircraft cabin piercing and cutting objects, poisonous, flammable substances and liquids, the volume of which exceeds 100 ml. I have repeatedly carried in hand luggage:

  • turkish sweets: Turkish delight, halva, baklava;
  • cookies, sandwiches, bread;
  • canned fish;
  • sweets, chocolate;
  • dried fruits with nuts.

She flew by Aeroflot, Ural Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Pegasos, Utair,

Red Wings and others. Never had a complaint about my carry-on baggage. Therefore, feel free to take a box of chocolates into the cabin, if you are not flying with Pobeda Airlines - you can expect everything from them. To dispel your doubts, you can go to the airline's website or call the hotline. Have a great flight!

What can I take with me on the plane in my hand luggage?

Guest 5

In 2017, you can take the following items with you on the plane in your hand luggage:

Valuable things, from documents to equipment, are not only possible, but also necessary to take with you, so that in case of problems with luggage, you do not have to worry about this additionally.

In-flight medicines. At the same time, it is better to take a certificate in advance that you suffer from some kind of disease, and for you, having medicines with you is a vital necessity. In another case, drugs may be withdrawn.

Children food. If a limit of 100 ml is introduced on liquids and other substances in a liquid state, then you can take more food. But it is better that it was packed in a plastic container.

Non-hazardous liquids in the correct packaging. Firstly, each container should not be more than 100 ml, and secondly, many companies require that these containers lie in a plastic bag with a fastener.

Baby bassinet.

Crutches for a person who cannot move without them.

Goods from duty-free shops. Of course, if you bought something in such a store, you can no longer check in two liters of alcohol or two packs of cigarettes (this is the standard maximum). But still, the goods should not be unpacked, but in the store they should be placed in a special bag.

Electronic cigarettes, according to the requirements of companies such as Aeroflot, should only be in hand luggage, they are prohibited in baggage.
